1 2 3 Bungyyyyyyyy.

One fine day I decided to jump!

First let me tell you that one should definitely try to Bungy at least once in his lifetime. It will help you B.E.L.I.E.V.E!

So here is my experience..

The number one dilemma was to choose the site. I chose Kawarau bridge ( World home of Bungy) is the place where AJ Hackett started the world’s first commercial bungy. The vibe of the place is invigorating and exciting. When in queenstown this is a MUST visit place.

We self  drove to the AJ HAckett Bungy jump site  at Kawarau bridge in Queenstown from where I was supposed to do my first bungy. They have free Bungy bus at fixed departures from the Queenstown shop and you are allowed on the bus irrespective of whether you are jumping or not. Just make sure you are there 30 min prior to departure.

The crew at A J Hackett Bungy is extremely professional, patient, encouraging, humorous and reassuring. They even played music at the jump site for relaxation..relax??really??

I was pretty excited while I was in queue. But as soon as my legs were being strapped I started getting jittery. And to add to my woes a girl who was supposed to jump before me just couldnt jump and gave up!!

Conversation on the ledge:

Me: Push me if I dont jump.

A J Hackett Crew member: Nah! That aint happening my friend. You decided to jump today so you have to do it. We do not push. The girl before you just went back. You will be fine. Just look straight ahead and don’t look down.

Me(thinking): ?!!! Hmm okie..Fair enough…Lets rock…Jai Mata Di!

When I stood at the edge, I waved to the camera, composed myself and thought about just one word – Believe!

Thats it. The fear vanished and I actually started enjoying the view…and to my surprise, I even looked down 🙂

Well I did it! Was so happy to get into that raft! If you still haven’t taken your plunge do it wherever you can.

Tips
  • Book in advance if you have any preference for timings. The slots get full pretty soon in season.
  • The photos/Video will cost a fortune but nevertheless, its worth every cent. You will have goosebumps every time you watch your video at home.
  • Even if you decide not to Bungy at least visit the site and see people jump. Its a thrill in itself.
  • When on the bridge, do not think too much and dont get bogged down by other people’s jumps. Just breathe, believe and jump.
