Trip report:

I have visited this fort twice once with a bunch of old school friends and second time with my kids and family.

Here is report of my first time. We started driving at 5.30 am from Mumbai. After driving for about 2.5 hours we reached the base village Peth Shahpur. There is no marked trailhead for Korigad. You just have to  look around for a peak, follow your instincts and start walking in that direction 😉

So off we go…

The trail is a gentle walk for the first 20 minutes and then there are steps to the top. During monsoons, this entire area is lush green and you might have to cross the stream of waterfalls while climbing the steps.

The locals also make sure  you are well fed on the trek. They set up temporary stalls in the caves on the way and serve piping hot vada pav and kanda bhajji!

After about 1 hour climb we reach at the top and are greeted by wonderful pond. There are 2 ponds on the top which you can explore.

All of us keep our backpacks aside and head straight into the water.

After some water fun, we were all as hungry as the wolves. I opened my perfectly packed picnic sandwich and while I relished my feast, the other wolves stared at me with their not-so-good ready chips packets! LOL.

After some time we start walking along the fort wall. There are many cannons along the wall. There is also a Koraidevi temple on the top.

Overall its a nice and easy gentle trek which can be covered with kids too.
